Dan Brown, Chief Executive Officer

Dan was most recently a Technology Partner at Arrowpath Ventures.  He was also the CEO of OnSite Systems where he successfully doubled revenue prior to the company’s acquisition. Before that, he served in business development, marketing and executive product management at Centerpoint Broadband Technologies and Mayan Networks. Dan also led the development of network infrastructure and customer solutions as Vice President of Engineering at FirstWorld Communications, a Denver-based CLEC. He has held other high level and technical management positions at 3Com and British Telecom.

Kevin A. Shaw, Ph.D., Chief Technology Officer

Kevin established the algorithm development efforts at Sensor Platforms and contributes to its business development efforts. He has over 20 years experience in sensors and MEMS and was a member the formative engineering team at Kionix, a leader in motion sensors and accelerometers, integral in establishing its MEMS process and sensor design. At Calient Optical Components, Kevin was critical in the development of its optical switch and defining new markets for its switching business. He co-founded and sold Ironwood Technologies, a company in the transportation services sector. He is a inventor having earned 25 U.S. patents in the fields of MEMS and sensors. Kevin holds a Doctorate from Cornell University in MEMS and MEMS/IC integration and a Masters from the Graduate School of Business at Stanford University, where he is a Stanford Sloan Fellow.

Frank Shemansky, Ph.D., VP of Business Development

Frank has more than 25 years of experience in the semiconductor, MEMS, solar, and biotechnology industries.  Prior to joining Sensor Platforms Frank held executive management positions at Mcube and Lumedyne Technologies focused on developing inertial MEMS sensor technologies.  As Manager of Sensor Technology Development at Motorola (now Freescale), he was part of the team that developed and commercialized some of the first revolutionary high volume MEMS products.  He also held senior management positions at Akustica and Orchid Cellmark.   Frank has seven issued MEMS patents and over thirty technical publications and presentations and is a co-author of the first MEMS textbook.  He received his B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering from Penn State University and his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering with an emphasis in semiconductor device physics from Arizona State University.

Jim Steele, Ph.D., VP of Engineering

Jim has a track record of leading successful development of complex algorithms, software, and system engineering for cellular systems, RF communications and memory products.  He also co-authored The Android Developer’s Cookbook: Building Applications with the Android SDK, and has given many invited lectures on using sensors with Android. Prior to joining Sensor Platforms, he has held senior management positions at Spansion, Polaris Wireless and ArrayComm as well as research positions in theoretical and particle physics at Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Ohio State University. Jim holds a Ph. D. in theoretical physics from State University of New York at Stony Brook.

John Tingleff, Chief Financial Officer

John has 20 years experience in the financial and operations management of early stage technology companies. Prior to joining Sensor Platforms, John was CFO of Ceon Corporation where he led the successful restructuring of this OSS software company. After restructuring, Ceon became the dominant supplier of provisioning and activation systems to the cable TV industry for Internet and IP phone access. Previously he served as CFO of Mayan Networks, a telecommunications, multi-service provisioning platform provider. At Mayan Networks, John raised $90 million in equity from top tier venture capitalists and $75 million in convertible debt led by Fidelity. John has also been a Partner with Technology Funding, a venture capital firm. He holds an MA and BA in Economics from San Francisco State University
